It seems as though coffee shops are popping up left and right everywhere, even in small maritime cities. It’s becoming hard to select which one to grab a cup of joe or sweet treat from. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of our favourite coffee shops in Fredericton, NB and Halifax, NS for you. From live music to gigantic cinnamon rolls, we’ve got you covered for whatever you’re in the mood for today.

Fredericton

You would be surprised how many trendy coffee shops have open in the small town of Fredericton over the past few years. We’re definitely happy about it! Each one has their own unique qualities that drew us in and kept us coming back. In no particular order here are our Fredericton faves:

Located on 86 Regent St, Fredericton, NB the Tipsy Muse has become a happening spot in town. They offer a wide variety of coffees and teas including a changing seasonal menu alongside a long list of Montreal bagels and baked goods. If that wasn’t enough to convince you to stop by for a visit, they also display a rotating gallery and put on live music shows!

Mill Town Roasters

Milltown is a fan favourite in Fredericton. With three different locations it’s easy to find your way there no matter where you are in the city. They have one downtown location on 461 King St, one location in The Coffee Mill on 1187 Smythe Street, and one northside location on 7 Mill Street. They roast their own beans and are known for their famous cinnamon rolls!

Coffee and Friends

Coffee and Friends is a long-standing Fredericton classic located on 425 King St. Whether you’re in the mood for a hot coffee on a cloudy day, an oat cake to fill you up, or an Italian soda to cool you down Coffee and Friends has got you covered! The charming space is perfect for a cozy morning newspaper read.

Urban Almanac

Urban Almanac is a general store on 75 York Street that features Good People Coffee Roasters and Tasha Tea for your coffee fix. You can enjoy a caffeinated beverage while shopping for furniture, specialty foods, glassware, and more! P.S. It’s also a pet friendly zone!

Heights Cold Brew

Heights Cold Brew Coffee Company sells coffee beans, cold brew, and speciality drinks from 418 York Street. Heights Cold Brew is smooth and bold and is perfect for when you don’t have 14 hours to brew your own!

Chess Piece

If you’re looking for an escape to Paris minus the travel, you can find it at 361 Queen Street at Chess Piece Patisserie and Cafe! Offering coffees, French pastries, and lunches you’re sure to find something to satisfy your cravings. They also run an ice cream truck called Queen Street Creamery and the Chess Piece Market offering cheese and deli right next door.

Halifax

Coburg Social

Coburg Social on 6085 Coburg Road is a Dal student favourite. With great coffee, lunch and breakfast menus, and a long drink list they are the perfect spot for study dates, hang outs, or happy hour.

Dilly Dally

At 6100 Quinnpool Rd you can find a bright blue shop that is Dilly Dally Eats. With food ranging from a light snack to a filling lunch and their high-quality coffee in fun flavours, it’s a must-stop spot in Halifax!

Cabin Coffee

Cabin Coffee on 1554 Hollis St. transports you to a homey log cabin in the woods, when in reality it’s only 5 minutes from the Halifax waterfront. They offer delicious coffee beverages, bagel sandwiches, soups, and other treats. Stop by and relax in one of their cozy leather couches for a quick staycation.

The Daily Grind

Doubling as a coffee shop and bar The Daily Grind is located in Bishop’s Landing on 1475 Lower Water St. You can an array of drinks such as delicious lattes, craft beers, and fresh juices. You can really experience Halifax right by the water here.

Wired Monk

The Wired Monk is a cozy café on 5147 Morris St. With a menu that has drinks that are refreshing, decadent, or festive, you can always find something to fit your mood. It’s only a short walk from the Halifax boardwalk so be sure to stop in for a caffeinated beverage and quick bite to eat before heading down to the sea.
